[p.s: This recipe might look like having so many steps, but its worth trying it - bcoz of its unique and rich taste. Your children and your husband will definitely love it.]

Small onions - 20 to 30 in number for 1 kg of fish
Garlic - 5 - 6 pods
Curry Leaves
Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Soaked Tamarind Water - 1 cup
Fenugreek Seeds
Cumin Seeds

For the Masala:
Cumin Powder        - 1/2tsp
Red Chilli                - 1 1/2tsp
Pepper Powder       - 1/2tsp
Coriander Powder   - 1 1/2tsp

Steps:

Wash the fish with salt and turmeric powder for 2-3 times. Then Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder and keep aside for sometime.

Heat little bit of oil in pan and fry the pearl onions for some 2 mins.

Then add all the powders mentioned in the masala section and fry for some more seconds. Then add the grated coconut and curry leaves. Off the stove and let the fried ingredients cool down.

Grind the above fried ingredients and keep it aside for sometime.

On low flame, fry the marinated fish by adding little oil. We don't need to let the fish fully cook here, just fry it until the salt and turmeric taste gets into the fish. Off the stove when the fish is half cooked.

Add oil in pan, when hot add fenugreek and cumin seeds.

Then add the remaining chopped onions, garlic and curry leaves. Fry these ingredient until golden brown.

Add the masala we have grind-ed before. Let it boil for some 5 minutes until the raw smell go away. Add water if necessary.

Meanwhile boil water in idly pan, keep the above fried fish in pan. Pour 2 tbsp of the above prepared fish curry masala on top of the fish. Close the idly pan and let the fish boil for some 5mins. This step is for making sure that all the masala will get into the fish and it will have a very nice taste of the curry.

Off the idly pan. Now all the fish pieces have got all the taste of the fish curry.

Add the soaked tamarind water to the fish gravy as the final step and let it boil. Switch off the stove and then add the boiled fish pieces to the gravy.

Serve hot with Rice and Enjoy with your family!!!
